Britton Price have launched what is believed to be the first passenger lift to have been designed around the needs of those living with dementia and their carers. Every aspect of how those living with dementia interface with a lift has been considered. Following consultation with the Dementia Services Development Centre, University of Stirling and our own care home customers we believe that our Registered Design* is a major breakthrough in EMI unit design.
We listened carefully to the professionals and made over 20 changes to a typical lift design. Every aspect from lighting to flooring and from push buttons to contrast and colours has been considered. Our aim has been to design a passenger lift which is user friendly in an EMI home setting, makes the life of the carer easier and aids the movement of people around the home.
Lighting levels have been greatly increased but diffused. The large analogue clock acts as a reminder and the reminiscence board on the rear wall is designed to calm and interest the user.
